Biography

Dr. Julie Elting is an associate professor in the Lienhard School of Nursing. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern California after nearly 30 years of nursing practice in maternal/child and pediatrics. She has been an NLN Certified Nurse Educator since 2010.

As a nursing faculty, she has taught a variety of courses, including fundamentals, pharmacology, community/public health, maternal/child, leadership, theory, policy, research, and evidence-based practice. Her research focus is on nursing education with topics related to diverse student populations, student experiences, and use of AI. Her mentorship with undergraduate student researchers has produced local, national, and international conference presentations, university research awards, and journal article publications. She is a National Student Nurses’ Association faculty advisor and past president of Omega Nu Chapter of Sigma Nursing Honor Society.

She has been recognized with university awards for Excellence in Teaching, Service to Faculty and Students, and as Faculty Advisor of the Year. Additionally, in 2023 she received the Leader of Leaders Award from the Nursing Students’ Association of New York State.
