The Center for Academic Advising supports students in making informed academic decisions, exploring opportunities, and progressing toward graduation. Through personalized guidance and collaboration with faculty and academic programs, advisors help students navigate their educational journey, connect their academic experiences to their goals, and build a foundation for continued success.
Core Components
-
First-Year Advisors support new first-time students from pre-orientation through the end of the first year. They help students understand degree requirements, build appropriate schedules, adjust to academic expectations, use university systems, and prepare for the transition to their major advisor.
-
Major Advisors work with students throughout their academic journey to support their continued success and progression toward graduation. Advisors help students develop academic plans, explore experiential learning opportunities, navigate degree requirements, and make informed decisions that connect their academic goals with their personal and professional aspirations.
-
Graduate Advising supports students as they transition into graduate study and navigate their academic programs. Advisors work in partnership with program faculty and academic departments to support onboarding, course planning, academic progression, and access to university resources, helping students understand program expectations and stay on track toward degree completion.
-
Pre-Health Advising supports students exploring and preparing for health-professions pathways. Through individual guidance, workshops, planning resources, and partnerships, students can better understand prerequisites, experiential opportunities, application preparation, and professional-school expectations.
