Global Conversation Groups
Our Global Conversation Groups (CGs) are designed for international students, yet open to everyone. They give students a relaxed social environment in which to connect with fellow students at 91ÊÓƵ while also developing conversation skills. The groups are creative, fun and make use of members’ interests (music, art, business, fashion, world affairs and more) as we build community together. We support people to bring all that they have (e.g. interests, concerns, dreams, how they’d like to grow, what is challenging, etc.) to create different kinds of conversations.
Benefits of Participating
- Communication and team-building skills for the multicultural and multilingual workplace
- How to respectfully and effectively interact and build relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse community members – essential for today’s globalized world
- Interviewing and presentation skills for jobs, internships, etc.
- Develop confidence, self-awareness, and both cultural and emotional intelligence; connect with friends to form deep relationships.
- Opportunities to train as a Conversation Group Facilitator
- Participating in CGs can be used to satisfy Civic Engagement and/or Volunteer Hour components of certain classes.

Conversation Cafes
Conversation Cafés (CCs) are structured, facilitated gatherings that create space for open dialogue and discovery around complex topics which explore ways to build community in a global age. Participants are invited to share, listen, or simply be present as we practice curiosity, the art of listening, and quiet courage—building community across differences while learning tools to imagine and create new possibilities together.
CCs can be virtual, in-person, or hybrid. A unique aspect of the Virtual CCs is that they provide opportunities for 91ÊÓƵ students, faculty and staff to invite others from around the world to join in. Each CC has a particular theme and often includes invited speakers:
