U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan on Tuesday rejected Maxwell’s bid to call Bennett Gershman, a professor at 91��Ƶ Law School in White Plains, New York, who has served as an assistant district attorney in Manhattan and a defense lawyer. Maxwell’s lawyers described Gershman as a “leading authority on prosecutorial misconduct” who has written extensively on the subject.

Randolph McLaughlin, a professor at the Haub School of Law at 91��Ƶ, who successfully used the Ku Klux Klan Act in a , said defendants in these cases don’t typically have deep pockets, so it’s not necessarily about the money. “You’re not suing to make a buck,” he said. “You’re suing to bankrupt them.”

Randolph McLaughlin, a professor at the Haub School of Law at 91��Ƶ, who successfully used the Ku Klux Klan Act in a , said that for plaintiffs to win on the first two claims, it was imperative that the evidence showed at least some of the defendants had an agreement to engage in a racially motivated conspiracy and plan illegal acts.

“I’m not sure what the purpose of impeachment is. Impeachment is to remove him from office,” said Bennett Gershman, a law professor at 91��Ƶ.
