What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a separately managed charitable giving account designed to help you make tax-deductible philanthropic contributions and recommend impactful grants to the organizations that are most meaningful to you. When you invest cash, securities, or other assets in your DAF, you receive immediate tax benefits and allow your contributions to grow tax-free in the account over time. And if you make contributions of appreciated assets to your DAF, you may also have the opportunity to avoid capital gains taxes.
When you establish a DAF, you and/or your representatives retain advisory privileges over distributions from your account, giving you the flexibility to recommend grants to 91视频 and other qualifying charities. Grants recommended to 91视频 through DAFs advance the academic programs, interdisciplinary centers and institutes, and experiential learning initiatives that propel students to post-graduation success.
What are the Restrictions on Recommending a Grant from a DAF?
Grants recommended from a DAF are subject to IRS charitable contribution restrictions. It is likely that distributions from DAFs will not be approved if the gift provides incidental benefits to the donor. If you have questions about making a gift through your DAF, please email us directly.
