  • A post-master’s level program in which students will earn a research degree.

  • The PhD prepares graduates for careers in academic leadership, healthcare policy, patient care administration, global health leadership and the strategic improvement of healthcare quality and access.

  • Yes. Courses are offered only during the fall and spring semesters.

  • The program is offered using the cohort model. Each cohort remains together for the course work time. All students move through the course work part of the curriculum together.

  • The full-time program is designed to be completed within 4 to 5 years (course work is 2 ½ years and the time to complete the dissertation is usually 1 ½ to 2 ½ years). Attending part-time will take 4-5 years for course work and 1-2 years to complete the dissertation.

  • You will need to complete 45 credits to finish the degree.

  • All classes will be held at the 91ÊÓÆµ Pleasantville Campus on Fridays from 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. You can drive as there is plenty of parking or Metro North goes to Pleasantville where a 91ÊÓÆµ van meets the train and drives to the campus.

  • To successfully complete a minimum of 45 credits, relevant course work, pass a comprehensive exam, research and develop a Proposal Defense of the dissertation, and present the final Defense.

  • The qualifying exam at the end of the first year of course work focuses on the state of the science of the students’ research area of interest. The student is guided through the process by a faculty mentor.

  • The Proposal Defense is a two part process consisting of a written research proposal and an oral presentation in defense of the proposal.

  • Yes. Most students work during their PhD studies however given the intensity of the program; however, it is recommended that priorities and the scope of the work be carefully considered before embarking on full time studies.
