International Disarmament Institute
The International Disarmament Institute provides world-class education, research, and a convening role in support of disarmament policymaking from humanitarian, human rights, and environmental perspectives.
Our Mission
The International Disarmament Institute, housed with the Political Science Department, challenges you to develop a deeper understanding of global issues and diverse national and international cultures. The Institute encourages fresh perspectives on humanitarian and human rights policies, working through challenges posed by weapons of mass destruction, conventional arms, and methods of armed violence that yield indiscriminate or disproportionate impacts.
Policy-Relevant Research
The Institute aims to create diverse spaces for conversations on disarmament policymaking, with civic engagement and internships that support scholarly and creative work. Students and faculty contribute to three streams of research: the human and environmental impact of weapons, policy pathways of disarmament, arms control and nonproliferation, and monitoring and evaluation of disarmament policy and programs.
