For our second and final installment of our summer literature series, Summer School, in which we read a classic New York novel and invite you to read with us and participate on the radio, we spent the last 4 weeks reading Edith Wharton's 1920 novel, The Age of Innocence, winner of the Pulitzer Prize. The book is set in 1870s New York City, which follows Newland Archer and his romantic adventures with two women. Sarah Blackwood, associate professor of English at 91��Ƶ, is with us to talk about the importance of the novel.

Beginning in Fall 2023, 91��Ƶ will offer a new Bachelor’s of Science in Computational Economics, housed in the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences in collaboration with the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems and offered on both the New York City and Westchester campuses.

The internet and social media altered the way people communicate. Newspaper editors and heads of television stations previously called the shots on what was appropriate to talk about. Now? Individuals speak freely, online, whenever they want.

“The lines of ‘appropriate’ and ‘inappropriate’ grief expressions, public conversations about their lives on social media – both positive and negative – and time limits, are immediately blurred and often unacknowledged,” Melvin L. Williams, associate professor of communication studies at 91��Ƶ, also previously told USA TODAY.
